Product Specifications
The King of Spices from Ceylon
Black pepper (Piper nigrum) is native to the tropical rainforests of the Western Ghats and has been cultivated in Sri Lanka for centuries. Ceylon black pepper is globally renowned for its exceptionally high piperine content, which is significantly higher than that of pepper sourced from other countries.
Our black peppercorns are grown in small, biodiverse home spice gardens. They are hand-harvested when fully mature, green, and just starting to yellow. The berries are then sun-dried, turning into dark, wrinkled peppercorns packed with essential oils and a fiery flavor profile.
Why Ceylon Black Pepper Sells Worldwide
High Piperine Content
Ceylon black pepper averages 7% to 10% piperine content, nearly double the amount found in standard varieties. This translates to a stronger, sharper heat.
Liter Weight Density
Our peppercorns are graded by liter density (550 G/L or 500 G/L), ensuring fully-formed, dense, mature berries with minimal light berries or husks.
Traditional Sun-Drying
Berries are slowly dried on traditional clean mats under the sun, allowing natural oxidation to give them their rich black color and wrinkled surface.
Rich in Essential Oils
Sri Lanka's terroir infuses our peppercorns with caryophyllene, pinene, and limonene, giving the pepper a complex, woodsy, citrus-like aroma.
How to Use Ceylon Black Pepper
Meat & Seafood Rubs
Essential for steak au poivre, barbecue rubs, roasted chicken, and marinades. Adds a long-lasting, deep-seated warmth.
Soups & Stews
Simmer whole black peppercorns in broths, stocks, and slow-cooked stews to gradually release warm woody notes.
Table Finisher
A fresh crack of bold peppercorns over fresh salads, eggs, pasta, or grilled vegetables lifts all flavours instantly.
Pickling & Brining
Whole berries add natural preservation benefits and a clean, sharp bite to pickling brines, chutneys, and relishes.
Spiced Beverages
Add a few crushed peppercorns to masala chai, herbal teas, or warm honey drinks to soothe throats and aid digestion.
